PS.  Hanz ate whatever I ate.

The Blooperz.
We ran out of gas on our first night.
Somewhere in the middle of nowhere on I-10.
In the dark.
Just 15 miles from the next fill up station.
We only had to wait about 25 minutes for Roadside Assistance.
But man.
LOL

Husky fur is everywhere in the truck by the first night.

We hit some road debris.
Lucky the only thing that was hurt was the debris.
Gertie made a few groaning noises throughout the trip that made me groan.
She seems totally fine now.
I guess only time will tell what scars that dolly may have left on her.

Husky fur continues to take over the truck.

We wanted so badly to see the beach in Venice.
SO badly.
We got to the beach.
Parked that SOB UHaul (named Ursula) with the tow dolly.
Josh may have had to maneuver the truck/ tow a couple of times.
Even after we were denied our first parking lot choice by a sweet parking lot attendant.
Josh and Hanz made a run for the ocean.
Almost to sweet, salty victory when out of nowhere a "Baywatch dude" stomped on their dreams.
No dogs allowed on the beach.
He allowed one moment of pure beach bliss.
And then we had to hit to the streets.
Hanz doesn't walk well in public yet.
We were hungry.
We were tired.
We were driving Ursula now (because Hanz was being a shit) on very narrow, expensive-ass car-lined streets.
We may have gotten a tiny bit snippy.
We got out of LA in it's traditional pre-rush hour rush.
Stopped at a gas station for food.
Then we smiled.

Husky fur doesn't taste good.

Our last night before our final destination in Stevenson was literally...
Trailer Trash. (it had a sign inside the trailer saying so)
Really it was just a working horse ranch with a really sweet Aussie pup and a menagerie of animals.
Roosters and farm animals started their morning rituals at 4AM.
We were out of there by 8AM.

Husky fur had to be cleaned up from the trailer because the host would have charged us $150 for cleaning fee if she found fur...
We got an A+ review and clean bill of excellence.

We went to drop the tow dolly off in downtown Portland.
The UHaul Company decided they didn't want to work their full shift that day.
So we had to unhitch the car without help.
We did it!
After Josh had to spend almost 20 minutes backing out of a downtown parking lot because we went into the wrong lot.
Oops.
That was at the end of the last day on the road before we hit Stevenson.

Husky fur followed us to Stevenson.

Really tho.
Now really yo.
We impressed ourselves with how well we handled our "speed bumps" along this trip.
And we are still enjoying being around each other!

Never wear Husky fur attracting clothing while in close living quarters with a husky over a several day road trip.
Lesson learned.

Prelude to the Road

Boxing Day
Sunday 2.26.2017

3 AM.
Nope not the Matchbox 20 song.
That's the time when someone decided to try and "visit" the apartment.
Yep.
You think that was a sign it was time to move?
Hanz got to practice his watchdog skillz and I got to see Josh almost pop a guy.
I heard Hanz barking more than usual and went to investigate.
There was scuffling at the door and I saw shadows dancing through the door gaps.
After bringing Josh out of a very deep sleep.
I ran back, peeked through the blinds and saw a guy mumbling at the landing - I could see his feet.
It seemed like he was trying to decide whether it was worth the effort to break in.
We stood at our stations - the three of us - waiting to see if anything would happen.
But whoever decided they wanted to visit decided we weren't being great hosts.

So sleep before moving is overrated.
Did I mention we are all procrastinators and didn't even start packing until 9PM the night before...

11 AM.
Help arrives!
Hanz is happy he has friends to keep him company.

12 PM.
UHaul is picked up.

12:30 PM.
Moving ensues.
Let me tell you.
I was super impressed with this crew.
Not only did we have time for lunch.
Thanks Pops!
But we were all happy it was over by 3PM.
You guys seriously rock!!

4:30PM.
We head to the UHaul to pick up the tow dolly for Gertie.

5PM.
On the road!!
Watch out... Josh is driving.
