Puppy Tales

Wednesday, May 31, 2017

Hi there world!  I'm Dahlia!

Ohhh new noises!

Wanna snuggle?

Pooped and worn out and needing some quiet time.  Three minutes later they are back at it.

Yeah I'm cute and my bro can't catch me all the time...

So ruff!

Crazy.

She snuggled all the way on our three and a half car ride home.

I've got two puppies at my feet.

Two.

We brought home a little bundle of fluff yesterday.

Oh my goodness she is a muffin.

Barely 35 lbs.

About 7 1/2 months old.

American Bulldog & Hound Mix.

Oh she is a cute one.

Fur like velvet.

Big floppy ears.

And eyes that will steal your heart.

Watch out boys.

Hanz has his work cut out for him.

She is a wicked duo of beauty and brawn.

Watch out us.

These two gorgeous pups are gonna whip me back into shape.

5:30AM is when I started my day today.

Two successful potty trips outside.

Scratch that, now three successful potty trips outside.

Three not so successful potty accidents inside.

Lots of whirl and fur and playing.

Successful morning feeding.

More rough and tumble while I tried to sweep floors.

No morning coffee yet.

Funny how quickly you forget all the work involved with puppyhood.

But oh so worth it.

So welcome our sweet flower,

Dahlia.

Bits and Blooms

Current Mood

sunny daze

head in the clouds

eyes heavy

stillness

tap tap tap on the keyboard

Hanz daydreaming at my feet

I wonder if he caught whatever it is he is chasing

faint quacks of the neighboring ducks

the brightest blue sky against a purple house

lounging on linen and down floor pillows

faint chill in the air

sun getting lower

smell of cocoa cardamom cookies

more stillness

more quiet

just little bits of my life that bloomed today

Baker's High

Friday, May 19, 2017

My first loaf of homemade bread.

All these chairs and I choose to sit on the floor...

I've fallen down the happy spiral of bread baking.

Please don't try to save me.

I'm way in over my head in the aromas of freshly baked bounty.

In other news...

We have entered the world of employment once again.

Josh has two jobs.

Both revolve around getting high.

Zip Lining Guide at High Life Adventures.

and

Bud Tending at Tsunami Marijuana.

I will be socializing at the Astoria Farmer's Market every Sunday.

Getting spirits high while handing out samples and selling spirits for Pilot House Distilling.

One could say we have taken the high road.

Hanz continues his beach husky journey.

Meeting friends at daycare and rough housing through the fence with his neighbors.

Still eating everything he can possibly put his mouth on at the beach.

And through the fence at green bits of garden that don't belong to him.

We definitely have puppy fever over here...

I mean.

You can not just have one dog.

Especially when the one dog you have is more social than both of his owners.

Stay tuned for that saga of fluff.

Once Upon A Tuesday

Tuesday, May 16, 2017

Once upon a Tuesday when winds howled and skies screamed grey.

A girl chose to wear flip flops and go about her day.

The cold was unforgiving and the rain played hide and seek.

What a weird weather day she pondered especially with summer so close to its peak.

Hail dropped like ice picks and stung her little toes.

The cold wrapped around her and chilled her to her bones.

Should she go get her mittens and thick woolen socks?

Or could she run quickly dodging the grasp of cold and slip and slide rocks?

Would you know the sun came out and teased us with its rays.

The heat of its energy brought life into the such a grey and moody daze.

Of course the sunshine was short lived and was gone within a flash.

The winds came back full force and the rains played a hopscotch dash.

The weather on the Northwest coast is such a game to play.

One moment it is sunny and the next the rain is here to stay.

So a word of advice for those flower children that like to bare their toes.

Always carry a change of shoes because you never know how this weather blows.

Just thinking it would be fun to write stories for kids to read.

LOL

I could imagine how I'd illustrate it and everything.

I'll just keep dreaming for now.

Happy Tuesday!

The weather really is just as crazy as it sounds in my story.

And I really do have flip flops on.

The Lines In Between

Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Moody window sill.
One of the faces I get in the morning.

Did you say, "treat?"  Yes, I'm standing on the coffee table.
Trying to wake Josh up...

Trying really hard.  All attempts failed.  Earplugs... LOL

In the midst of job searching, interviews, day to day activities, my plant class...

These are the little moments that I love to look back on.
